The Bailey Wall

While the framers are setting rebar on site and the rest of our crew is busy prepping the Avellana for concrete, I have started building the small side tower for the Copper Crown suite. It is the first bit of theming for the Copper Crown (and it will set the style for everything that follows) so I have been careful to refer to the model so that I get it just right.

The Suspense Is Killing Us!

Our framer, Rob, is having the time of his life building the forms for the Hazelnut Inn!

Today, our structural engineer dropped by and gave us the 'ok' to finish up the forms. Rob and the guys will finish up the rebar and set the levelling strips this week and next Tuesday the surveyors will come to double check all our measurements.

It won't be long now before we start pouring walls. We can hardly wait!

Sail Away, Sail Away, Sail Away

The Avellana is nearly ready to set sail. The welded steel is complete and it is being prepped for its coating of sculpted concrete. It won't be long before she is ready for the sea!

Yesterday, Rob and the guys installed the Under Hill's door and window bucks. They placed them perfectly the first time - its nice to have builders with an eye for detail!

Seeing the Future

Today, at the end of the day, Juniper and I took a walk to what Juniper calls "the big job site." I answered all her questions as best I could ("Why?" is a popular one these days) and when it was time to leave promised we would come again soon. It was a great end to a good day's work!

With the hull of the ship finished the push is on to complete the rest of the Avellana. We've nearly completed the steel frame on the bulk of the North Star's nautical bedroom. It won't be too long before it gets its coat on concrete!
