One Extraordinary Boutique Hotel

Today, we are making a few things for our Pinterest account. We came across a nice little shot of the model and thought it would make a good pin. But it won't be long now until we will be able to take a picture of the real thing. We can hardly wait!

Today we added the details around the Avellana's windows. The carved concrete is looking great and I can hardly wait to see it painted up!

You Oughta Be In Papers

Construction on the Hazelnut Inn is well under way! That means it is time to start thinking about how to tell people about our little boutique hotel. We plan on showing at several wedding fairs next year and we will need a little something for the magazines. Here is our first mock-up.

The Best In Town

The Avellana  is nearly ready for concrete - so it is time to finish up its roof. The Copper Crown suite will have a copper roof (of course) so we wanted something a little different got the North Star’s center piece. We decided the ship should have a brass roof.

For ease of construction (and strength) the roof is built from 10 gauge steel and coated in PlateAll’s brass coating. The roof’s surface is real brass suspended in resin. It will polish up real nice and even develop a natural patina over time. It’s going to be the best brass roof in all of Yarrow!

Antiques

When our old friend Karl Schutz heard we were building a themed hotel, he kindly offered us a few things from his collection of antiques including a hand-painted distaff (a tool for holding pre-spun flax) from Romania - 1871. We just have to decide: Should they be displayed in the Under Hill or the North Star?

While the framers are setting rebar on site and the rest of our crew is busy prepping the Avellana for concrete, I have started building the small side tower for the Copper Crown suite. It is the first bit of theming for the Copper Crown (and it will set the style for everything that follows) so I have been careful to refer to the model so that I get it just right.
