A Creative Family Legacy

Peter spent his childhood immersed in the world-class artistry of his family’s business, the Imagination Corporation. Growing up among sculptors and dreamers, he inherited a deep reverence for handcrafted storytelling. Together, Peter and Hailey sought to channel that foundational magic into a brand-new venture: an immersive, romantic escape where couples could step directly into a living fairytale.

From Loss to New Beginnings

The catalyst for their dream arrived through unexpected heartbreak. When a devastating blight struck the historic hazelnut orchard next to the senior Sawatzky’s home, the beloved trees had to be cleared. Rather than letting the land’s history fade, Peter and Hailey stepped forward to claim a piece of the subdivided lot.

On this storied ground, they are building an enchanted destination like no other — the Hazelnut Inn — marrying family legacy with a bold new dream.

Some love stories are written in books, but ours is carved into concrete, shaped by hand, and built from a dream.

Years ago, during our European honeymoon, my wife Hailey and I found ourselves tucked away in a magical castle tower. Wrapped in the enchantment of that ancient place, we looked at each other and knew we wanted to bring that exact feeling of wonder back home.

Castles may be rare in Canada, but imagination is not. As theme park designers, we have spent our lives building worlds of fantasy for others. Hailey looked at our unique skills and realized we could build our very own fairytale. When a piece of an old hazelnut farm became available, we didn’t hesitate. We sold our home, bought the land and, together with our family and our incredible team at the Imagination Corporation, poured our hearts into our magical little hotel.

Today, that honeymoon dream is a living reality. The doors to our fantasy suites are officially open, waiting to become a part of your story.
