Yesterday we finished the tile and grout on the Copper Crown’s main floor. This means we are finished the bulk of the work inside the suite. As we say in my family, The Copper Crown Suite is “done, except for…” a few details. Over the next little while we will add the final details to the paint, finish off some vent covers and a few other small bits and pieces. Stay tuned for the final, final 😉
Our guests often describe their stay with us as a deeply emotional experience — a place where the ordinary world fades and a dreamscape begins. There is a specific magic in stepping through our gates — a swelling of the heart that feels like the first few notes of a tender ballad. Lately, as the winter rain patters against our garden sculptures, we have pondered the soulful, cinematic discography of Adele as a metaphor for the Hazelnut Inn.
Like her music, our suites are handcrafted stories designed to be felt as much as heard or seen. We invite you to imagine pressing play on a stay that mirrors the hopeful, acoustic intimacy of Adele’s Daydreamer. That breathless feeling of arrival isn't just about a beautiful room; it’s the realization that for the next few days, you don't have to imagine a magical getaway. You are living inside one.
A Grand Voyage
Your journey might begin with the North Star and the orchestral swell of Adele’s Hometown Glory. This suite isn’t just a room; it’s a tribute to the spirit of discovery. As you explore its tower sitting room, the driving, rhythmic piano of the track mirrors the steady pulse of a tall ship at sea. Surrounded by massive statues and hand-made relics of Captain Longbottom’s travels, you aren’t just a guest — you are an explorer finding a home in the heart of the unknown.
A Gentle Shelter
Where the North Star looks outward to the sea and stars, the Under Hill Suite pulls you inward, shifting the tempo from a grand voyage to a soulful, acoustic embrace. If Hometown Glory is the excitement of the journey home, Adele’s Remedy is the peace of finally dropping anchor. Here, the “remedy” is found in the earth — the warmth of the radiant-heated floors and the silence of a living roof — turning the vast world outside into a distant memory while you retreat into the safety of the burrow.
A Copper Stronghold
Finally, our magical little hotel rises from the quiet earth to a dramatic peak in the Copper Crown. If the previous suites embody discovery and healing, this fairytale castle — with its moat and dragon-topped spires — echoes the symphonic weight of Adele’s Skyfall. It is a place to celebrate the milestones that define your life.
A Promise Of Return
And, as your stay draws to a close, we hope your departure feels less like a goodbye and more like the soulful, upbeat optimism of Adele’s I’ll Be Waiting. Unlike the her heartbreaking ballads, this track is a firm, joyful vow that we will be waiting — our lanterns lit and our gardens blooming — for the moment you’re ready to press play all over again.
Today I nipped down to The Book Man and officially got started on the Copper Crown’s library.
As we prepare for the suite’s grand opening in June 2026, the architectural details — the moat, the tower bedroom, and the all important secret reading nook — are finally coming together.
But a castle is only as grand as its stories, and for the Copper Crown, we need a collection that feels like it was curated by a line of aristocratic dragon riders. And, there is no better place to hunt for these treasures than The Book Man. Walking through their massive storefront on Wellington Avenue feels like an adventure in itself.
I managed to snag several cloth-bound classics that will look perfect tucked away in the suite’s hidden library. I can already picture our future guests curled up with these beauties, disappearing into a story within a story!
