ASMR For Your Eyes

We’ve used a lot of different textures throughout the Hazelnut Inn: hand-carved wood, aged steel, sculpted stone, and plenty of surfaces with a little more character than you might expect. The idea behind it is simple. We wanted the rooms to give your eyes more to discover than a collection of smooth, uniform finishes. The wood has grain. The steel develops a patina as it ages. The stone is uneven.

We sometimes joke about this as “Eyeball ASMR.” We’re really just describing the pleasure of surfaces that invite a closer look. The way light catches a rough edge. The marks left by a carving tool. The texture of materials that aren’t perfectly polished or predictable.

It’s one of the little things that shaped how we approached the rooms — and one of the reasons there’s always something new for your eyes to notice.

A Cozy Escape Just North Of Seattle

Just north of Seattle, in the quiet village of Yarrow, British Columbia, sits the Hazelnut Inn — a place built for couples who want to slow down, settle in, and stay somewhere that feels genuinely unlike home.

The drive north is easy. In about two and a half hours, you can leave Seattle behind, cross into the Fraser Valley, and find yourself surrounded by open views, mountains, and a much quieter pace. No airport security. No flight. Just a change of scenery and some time away together.

Three Distinct Private Suites

The Hazelnut Inn has three private suites: the North Star Suite, the Under Hill Suite, and the Copper Crown Suite. Each is its own little world.

The North Star Suite takes its inspiration from the sea and the night sky, with a star-mapped ceiling overhead. It is the sort of room that invites you to look up and stay awhile.

The Under Hill Suite is tucked underground with a glowing hearth and the feeling of a hidden retreat. Settle in and pour a cup of tea — there’s nowhere else you need to be.

The Copper Crown Suite evokes the grandeur of a storybook castle with soaring stonework that suggests stepping into another time.

Throughout the property, we used timbers, bricks, and custom sculptures to create spaces that feel handcrafted rather than interchangeable. Each suite has a deep soaking tub built for two, along with board games and little treats for unhurried afternoons. Outside, private garden gates open onto courtyards with waterfalls and tucked-away places to wander, sit, talk, or simply listen to the water for a while.

Nothing here was designed to feel like an ordinary hotel. The idea was to create three private little worlds where you can close the gate behind you and settle into a place that feels entirely your own.

If you’re looking for a getaway that feels like more than a change of address, come spend a little time with us in Yarrow.

Three Unique Romantic Getaways In BC: Escape To An Enchanted Hotel

Located in Yarrow in Chilliwack’s Fraser Valley, the Hazelnut Inn brings together imaginative architecture, private outdoor spaces, and carefully crafted interiors for a truly distinctive getaway.

There are only three suites, each designed as a different world.

Three Distinctive Suites In BC’s FRASER VALLEY

Each suite has its own private garden courtyard, king-size bed, and two-person soaker tub. Their designs take inspiration from three very different settings: a woodland retreat, a sea captain’s quarters, and a fairytale castle.

The Under Hill — A Subterranean Sanctuary

The Under Hill is built into the landscape, with a stone hearth beneath a ceiling incorporating the sculpted roots of a tree. Double doors open onto a private garden courtyard and waterfall pond, extending the natural character of the suite outdoors.

The suite also features a ground-floor, step-free entrance and is wheelchair accessible.

The North Star — A Maritime Hideaway

The North Star evokes the quarters of a sea captain, with a hand-painted map of the solar system covering the ceiling and custom sculptures throughout the suite. Outside, water features add another layer to the private garden.

The Copper Crown — A Fairytale Castle

The Copper Crown is reached by a private footbridge crossing a fish-filled moat. Inside, cathedral ceilings and heraldic tapestries reinforce the setting, while a tower bedroom completes the design.

Designed for Absolute Seclusion

Each suite accommodates a maximum of two guests. To preserve the quiet, private character of the property, children, pets, and outside visitors are not permitted on the grounds. Digital check-in allows guests to go directly to their suite rather than checking in at a front desk.

Plan Your Stay At The Hazelnut Inn

With just three individually designed suites, the Hazelnut Inn offers an intimate alternative to a conventional stay. Here, the experience begins with the setting itself: beneath sculpted tree roots, under a hand-painted map of the sky, or beyond a footbridge and the waters of a castle moat. Each suite has its own world, its own atmosphere, and its own way of making the ordinary feel far away.
