The Inn’s street view is coming along nicely. We have had a great summer working on the exterior and it looks like we will have at least a few more weeks of prime weather for sculpting concrete!
Today we finished sculpting the last of the shoring holding the North Star’s ship in place. Our goal this summer was to finish up the sculpted concrete in this area and we are nearly there!
Occasionally we have a visitor at the Hazelnut Inn worksite. I generally tell them the suite’s story as we walk up toward the North Star’s private garden. But I always pause when we round the corner because invariably they stop and tilt their head to get a better look at the grey shape sitting the ground. It takes a half-second before they realize it is a giant stone head peaking out of the ground and it brings a little smile to their face when they do. I smile with them every time.
The North Star suite’s garden wall is nearly complete. Each “stone” in this haphazard wall has been carefully sculpted from fresh concrete. I can hardly wait for our painters to complete the illusion!
The concrete around the main courtyard was finished. But we decided we needed one more air vent so a little modification was in order.
The rubber liner for the North Star suite’s waterfalls is tucked and secured in place — that means we can finish off the concrete in this area. It won’t be long until we hear the sound of tumbling water!
