The ceiling for the captain’s quarters in the North Star suite is complete and we are continuing to work inside the ship this week. It won’t be long until we are ready for paint!
Today, at last, it was time to begin sculpting the many and varied interior surfaces of the North Star Suite in the Hazelnut Inn. We began, of course, with the most difficult surface, the vaulted ‘wood’ ceiling of the ship. It had to be perfect for our guests will lay on the comfy king sized bed below and stare at it without a doubt. We were pleased to welcome back Jenessa for a couple of days this week to give us a hand. It turned out fabulous of course! By the end of the week we hope to have this room ready for paint!
Today we tidied up the wire mesh in preparation for sculpted concrete. I also had a little parging to do and since I had a little concrete left over, I couldn’t resist mudding and carving this little post near the top of the North Star’s tower. It is just a little taste of things to come — tomorrow we will begin the interior mud in earnest!
