Why We Built A Hotel Without Any “Standard” Rooms

Forget the predictable rhythm of the everyday and the sea of “same-old” that often defines our surroundings. Sometimes, your spirit hungers for a splash of the extraordinary — a place where the walls tell stories and the scenery feels plucked from a dream.

More Than Just A Room

That is exactly why we built the Hazelnut Inn. It is less a place to rest your head and more like a gateway to another realm. From the moment you cross the threshold, the beige monotony of the real world vanishes, replaced by handcrafted wonders that took us nearly a decade to create. As our guests have noted, the “incredible detailing and execution of the build” makes it obvious that our magical little hotel is a “labour of love”.

Three Worlds, One Inn

When you arrive, the outside world doesn’t just fade away — it disappears. Whichever suite you choose, you are entering a self-contained story.

  • North Star Suite: This suite evokes the romance of sea-pirates and explorers. You sleep in the Captain’s quarters of the Avellana, complete with a king-size bed guarded by twin figureheads.

  • Under Hill Suite: This is the cozy, earthy burrow of your dreams. A snug underground home with a private walled garden and the soothing sound of a waterfall.

  • Copper Crown Suite: Now open for reservation, this suite feels straight out of a fairytale. It features a tower bedroom, a hidden passage, and a private garden you enter by stepping across the castle’s moat.

The Real Magic Is In The Details

Our guests often share that the true magic lies in the one-of-a-kind details you won't find anywhere else. It’s tucked away in the North Star’s garden and woven into the roots twining over the Under Hill’s bed. It’s an atmosphere so immersive that one guest described it as the feeling of “camping inside my favourite theme park.”

We didn’t build the Hazelnut Inn merely to provide a place to sleep; we built it to provide a place to dream. Every bit of sculpture and every hand-painted finish is designed to transport you from reality, into a realm of story and imagination.

Are you ready to leave the mundane world behind?

Find A Whimsical World Under The Hill

In the village of Yarrow, tucked away from the country road and its restless motorcars, lies a lodging of uncommon character — the Under Hill Suite at the Hazelnut Inn.

Imagine, if you will, a door under the roots of a great, twisted old tree, leading into a sanctuary that is quite the most delightful place a traveler could desire.

Beyond its heavy gate lies a walled garden, a private patch of the world where time itself seems to slow its pace. Here, the gentle music of a waterfall mingles with the crackle of an outdoor fireplace, perfect for contemplating the stars without a whisper of the outside world to interrupt your tranquility.

Inside, the suite is full of earthy comfort — the ceiling itself seems to grow from the very soil above. There are no sharp corners or stumbly stairs here; it is a refuge of peace, boasting a sumptuous king-size bed tucked into its own snug corner. And for the weary bones of a tired wonderer, there is a deep soaker tub, inviting you to sink into its steamy water. While for the hungry traveler, a thoughtful kitchenette stands ready, stocked with the sorts of scrumptious snacks and fizzy beverages.

In this enchanting refuge, every detail is crafted to transport you far from the madding crowd, offering a singular experience of peace and imagination. The Under Hill Suite at the Hazelnut Inn is not just a place to rest one’s head; it is a destination in itself, promising an escape where fantasy and comfort converge, leaving you with memories of a truly magical stay.

Set A Course For The North Star

Ahoy, traveler! Cast your eyes upon the Hazelnut Inn’s North Star Suite, a sanctuary crafted not merely of timber and stone, but of the very dreams that haunt a mariner’s sleep.

You’ll find the threshold of this retreat beneath the keel of the Avellana — a vessel that once outran the King’s cutters and danced through the spindrift of the Spanish Main. Step through its iron gate and you shall find a garden; a verdant treasure-isle hidden from the eyes of landlubbers. Here, waterfalls sing to the ferns, and a glowing bowl casts its flickering light upon relics from a forgotten age.

Within its walls, you’ll find no beggarly comforts but the grandest appointments a buccaneer could desire. The air itself seems to carry the scent of subtle spices and old parchment. Every nook is crammed with the salvage of a life spent plying the foam — oddments and arcane trinkets from the very world's end perch upon every shelf.

A tidy galley, well-provisioned with complimentary victuals and spirits of the bean and leaf, ensures you will not go without while under this roof. Moreover, a grand tub waits to soak the brine from your weary bones, and a hearth glows bright enough to guide a ship through a gale.

Tis a snug harbour, indeed, if you should wish to leave the world astern, and find your own hidden treasure behind its doors.
