Today, we carved this compass rose in the North Star’s tower sitting room. Little details like this are a joy to make!
The North Star’s tower sitting room is coming along nicely — there is only one more section of bricks to complete (and a handful of carved “wooden” posts) and this entire area will be ready for paint!
Today I started making the fireplace doors for the North Star suite’s sitting room. My trusty old three pound hammer came in handy!
We have been making good progress preparing the interior of the North Star suite for another round of sculpted concrete. I am very pleased with the various areas of the suite are interacting with one another. Each space is clearly defined while also feeling connected to the surrounding areas. It really is shaping up to be a spectacular room!
These past few weeks, in between other projects, we have been chipping away on the interior of the North Star Suite. The stair rail that curves around the edges of the tower sitting room — leading the Captain’s bedroom — has been welded, ground and the oak spindles installed. Next up, we will finish the “brick” walls below the stairs.
The Copper Crown Suite’s garden gate is now installed! This massive gate is nearly eight feet tall and over four feet wide — opening it feels almost magical!
