Sculpted Details

We made great progress today on more of the sculpting inside the North Star Suite. The bottom portion of the post and wall under the kitchen counter is now complete. This sculpting was detailed and time-consuming but turned out fabulous! There’s plenty more than a guest can possibly soak up in one visit, including the multi-layered sea horse bracket tucked under the counter. Stay tuned for more tomorrow…

Close To Paint!

We are more than a little excited to finally be at the point where we are down to the last few days of sculpting inside the North Star Suite. Soon we will finish off the high ceiling from atop the scaffold. By the end of the week, it is our hope to be finished with the fireplace and adjacent areas. Next week the painting crew will begin working their magic. Stay tuned for so much more…

Interior Peek

Work continues on the interior of the Hazelnut Inn, the North Star Suite being the furthest along. Parts of it are nearing completion, complete with final paint. This photograph, provided by the BNR Electric team, shows the inside of the ship which pokes out of the central tower. This will be the bedroom. Even up close, it is hard to believe that the wide planks are not real wood but all hand-sculpted concrete. It is going to be awesome once the floor tiles, bed and rich layered draperies finish things off. Stay tuned as it comes together!

Special View

The Hazelnut Inn will have many, many great spots to take spectacular photos when we are finished construction. It was carefully designed that way from the time we first put pencil to paper more than six years ago. We double-checked every angle and view when we built the scale model shortly thereafter. And now, as we carefully put all of the pieces together we can finally see them for real.

One of our favourite photo spots is peering through the garden gate of the Under Hill, up towards the Copper Crown which towers overhead. The garden is still very much under construction but the view is already pretty special. It’s not too hard to imagine this angle with a cobblestone deck and finished landscaping in place. Every day brings us a little closer to the finished view!

Quick Insulation Progress

The insulation crew from Element Spray Foam is making great progress.

The Under Hill Suite looks like a confusing jumble of foam, wires, pipes, and welded pencil rod, but it all makes perfect sense if you know how it will all come together in the end.

The bulk of the building is now fully insulated and it won’t be long until our final suite, the Copper Crown, is finished as well.
