Some big, visible changes are happening at Hazelnut Inn these days as we finalize the driveway grades and begin forming the sidewalks and curbs. In the next couple of weeks, we’ll place some gravel and then pour the concrete. Colourful paving stones have been ordered along with the automatic gate openers to make this part of the project ready for guests. Stay tuned…
The work continues on the Hazelnut Inn and each week another few pieces of the giant puzzle are put in place. Each new piece is critical for the one that follows. This week it was the high painting and the gate that was done. The gate openers and controls are next which will be followed by the final themed post, the curbs and sidewalks and then the cobblestone driveway. As each piece is completed the final picture quickly comes together. Stay tuned for more…
Peter spent a bunch of his time this week up in a man lift painting the final high bits of the Hazelnut Inn exterior. These last unpainted pieces were on the ship stern and a chimney on the large tower roof. Everything else was done on a scaffold but these could only be safely reached with a lift. The Inn is looking better every day!
The last bit of the Hazelnut exterior to be finished is the parking lot wall. Like the rest of the Hazelnut Inn, it is designed to look like it has been there for a very long time. The wall ends at a tower, built from rock and brick. The broken top will overflow with plants when it is finished. The board at the top will hold a lantern to light the parking lot. It is going to look great when it is painted.
There’s a good-sized wall between the Hazelnut Inn parking lot and the Imagination Corporation. The wall is just over six feet tall so guests won’t be able to see nest door. Even though the wall is brand new it looks like it has been around forever - just like the rest of the inn. This afternoon Peter, with the help of Juniper and Henry, started painting it.
We’ve been hard at work at the Hazelnut Inn. Lately, it has been all about the trades. The plumbing is now largely complete throughout all three suites. The sprinkler system is installed and the electrical is finished in two areas with more work due to start this coming week. As soon as this work is complete we will give the spray foamers a call to finish off the insulation. Once all of that work is behind us we can get serious doing the theme work once again. Today, we began the digging and installation of the conduits across the parking lot. It’s one of the projects we’ve been eager to get started.
