Today, we hung the mechanical room doors. These solid fir doors are 2 1/4 inches thick with 10 gauge steel gears and filigree bands. They weigh more than 200 lbs. each, they look great… and they installed like a dream too!

The mechanical room doors have received their final coats of stain and it is almost time to install them. But, before we do, we want to take the opportunity to paint the shutters for the windows on either side of the doors. The doors are solid fir and the shutters are high density urethane — but, by the time we are finished painting, our guests won’t be able to tell the difference!

With the North Star suite’s sleeping quarters ready for plaster, it is time to start buttoning up the sitting room tower!
