Leftovers

Occasionally, after a good day of ‘mud’ we have a little concrete leftover. It always seems a shame to let it go to waste and luckily, here at the inn we have a nice big wall that can always use some plaster. Join lines are never a problem since we want a cracked and aged plaster effect.

The Hazelnut Inn has a lot of vertical elements. Numerous towers, chimneys, standing stones, and (of course) a ships mast vie for passerby’s attention. And it does grab their attention - it is very gratifying to see cars screech to the side of the road with their occupant’s fingers pointing or couples out for a walk taking selfies in front of the sign. But my favourites are the children’s spontaneous cries of “That’s so cooooool”! We are a long way from finished but I think we are on the right track.
