The Widow's Peak
Roof Cap

The welding on the Copper Crown’s roof pan is finished. The Imagination Corporation’s plasma cutter made quick work of the rails and they look great! I am looking forward to seeing it installed.

Happily, we can start painting its copper patina this week!

French Mansard Roofs

The Copper Crown’s main room is surmounted by a french mansard roof. A mansard roof combines a steep pitch with a flat top. And, the top often features a decorative railing. Today we started welding Copper Crown’s roof railing. Each section of the fence is decorated with the suites stylized fleur-de-lis. This same motif will be found above the windows and in various other places around the suite.

Bridal Shows
At The Show

Hailey and Becké had a great time at the All Dressed In White Bridal Show this weekend! It is always exciting to see peoples eyes light up as we explain that, yes the hotel does look like the model, and yes the rooms will be as spectacular on the inside as they are the outside. Working on the inn everyday, we sometimes forget just how special it really is!

We will be on the road again in February, on Saturday the 23rd, for the Swank Wedding Show at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver. I hope we get a chance to see you there!

Working under cover
beams being installed on tower

The boys were working under cover today (sort of) as they installed the teamwork under the eaves of the North Star tower of the Hazelnut Inn. It was definitely tricky work. It took three guys (all hooked in of course) to do the task. Two held the piece while the third quickly fastened it into place. The tricky part was fitting into the lift basket. It is amazing how much better the tower looks with the detailed pieces in place! Tomorrow, the weather is forecast to improve some which will make the last pieces a little easier to install. I can hardly wait to see it all done! Stay tuned…

42nd Annual Wedding Fair

Hailey and Becké had a great time at the Westin Bayshore Hotel last weekend for the 42nd Annual Wedding Fair. They had our model on display and chatted with two or three hundred brides to be (and one groom). Everyone agreed the Hazelnut Inn will be a magical honeymoon spot (and the groom really wants to hold a Dungeons & Dragons tournament in the Under Hill suite).
